Honey collector mauled to death by tiger in Sundarbans

A honey collector was killed by a tiger in west Sundarbans of  Khulna.

The deceased was identified as Sirajul Islam (50), son of late Adam Ali Sardar of Gobra village in Koyra upazila, reports our Khulna correspondent.

The family and relatives found parts of Sirajul's body in the Sundarbans this afternoon two days after a tiger attacked and dragged him deep into the forest while he was collecting honey on Saturday, said Nasir Uddin, an official of Kobadak Forest Station in Sundarbans.

Local resident Ashikuzzaman Ashik, who is working with tiger- widows in the Sundarbans coastal region, said after a two-day search in the Sundarbans, relatives found parts of the victim's body today.

Sirajul, a father of three, was the only earning member of the family, added Ashik.
