Police today detained 35 local leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student body Islami Chhatra Shibir and recovered petrol bombs from them in Lalmohon upazila of Bhola.
District unit Jamaat ameer Mostafa Kamal and Lalmohon upazila Shibir president Abdullah Al Mamnu were also among the arrestees.
Acting on a tip off, a police team raided a house in Nayanvari area this morning when the Jamaat-Shibir activists were holding a secret meeting there, and arrested the 35 people, said M Rafiqul Islam, assistant superintendent of police in Bhola.
They were planning to carry out a subversive activity in the area, law enforcers claimed.
The police also recovered seven petrol bombs and huge quantity of jihadi books from the spot.
