Reward announced for info on Chinese engineer missing from Padma Bridge site

China Major Bridge Engineering Company Ltd has announced Tk two lakh reward for information on Chinese engineer Zhao Jianpeng (26), who went missing from Lauhajang upazila of Munshiganj on the night of June 22 while working in the Padma Bridge project.

Talking to our Munshiganj correspondent, Sai, an engineer of the China Major Bridge Engineering Company Ltd, said a reward of TK two lakh has been announced for information on the missing Chinese national. Leaflets have already been distributed among various boat workers, fishermen and people of riverside villages.

Bazlur Rashid, petty officer of Mawa Coastguard Station, said they were patrolling various parts of the river but no trace of the missing person was found till 11:30am today.

Dewan Mohammad Abdul Kader, project manager of the Padma Bridge project, said Zhao probably fell into the river where he was working. Search is on at different places.

The missing engineer was working under China Major Bridge Company, the contractor for the Padma bridge, added our Munshiganj correspondent.
