Renowned author Amitav Ghosh in his novel 'The Hungry Tide' compares the beauty of the Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest, with terror.
According to him, it is a piece of heaven on Earth which is serene and at the same time dangerous. This definition of beauty aptly describes the almost indescribable splendor of the Sundarbans. Its stunning mangrove, tide and land transformation, Bengal Tiger and other wild animals, muddy dunes, long beach studded with half broken trees seem to have indeed turned it into a piece of heaven.
