‘We are not dependent on the central contract’

Right-arm medium pacer Kamrul Islam Rabbi says that the cricketers are not dependent on a central contract or their salaries for their livelihood.

The cricketer suggested that there were two ways of thinking about the situation, one is to keep thinking about the central contract and another is to just focus on the cricket.

“Why was I on the central contract? I performed and there was confidence, which is why I was under the central contract. Now I am not, but that does not mean that I can’t return,” Kamrul said.

The cricketers under central contract gets a considerable salary from being under the central contract.

The BCB president had earlier informed that the finance committee will take the budget into consideration and make a recommendation on how much can be paid to those who are on the payroll in first-class cricket, and the salaries of other payroll personnel.

Kamrul suggested that while financial problems are still there but the domestic cricket leagues mean that cricketers may not be all that dependent on the central contract.

“Financial problems are obviously there but we are not dependent on the central contract or our salaries.

“Dhaka League, National Cricket League, and BCL are there so I am not thinking about the central contract.

“Ofcourse when one is under the central contract then confidence is there. I am a contracted player and that gives me confidence.

Kamrul said that not having a central contract can work as motivation.

“When you lose out on the central contract then there is hunger to get it back. I lost it so my hunger is increasing. So I will try to return with better performances.,” he concluded.
