PAINTING EXHIBITION BY TILOTTOMA BHOWMICK

Date: 14 February to 17 February

Time: Daylong

Venue: La Galerie, Alliance Francaise

For Tilottama Bhowmick, what started as a hobby soon translated into a four-year certificate course in drawing and painting at Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts. In those initial years, her work comprised experimentation with charcoal, pastel, watercolour, acrylic, oil and mixed media. However, for the 35 paintings in this upcoming exhibition titled 'The Naked', Bhowmick used acrylic and mixed media. Through this exhibition, she endeavoured to portray the essence of living— simply naked. There are also congruent concept series with titles such as 'Behind the Scene', 'Trifling', 'Power of Eternity', 'Quest in Rebirth', 'Domestic Animal', 'You and I've Come to Face Consequences' that are going to be exhibited.

Nature, scent, sound, and texture have appealed to Bhowmick since her childhood. The confluence of spirituality with mythology intrigued her deeply, as well. Her conscious and subconscious mind speak about this marriage between the two through symbolisms like lotus, snake, representation of entity, masks, human beings, creatures, water, and textures.
