A sub-inspector (SI) of police, who was stabbed by a drug peddler in Gouripur upazila on Wednesday night, was shifted to Dhaka CMH yesterday.
The victim, Asaduzzaman Asad, 37, was stabbed in Jailkhana Road area.
Asad hails from Purbadhala upazila of Netrakona and has been working in Gouripur Police Station for seven months, police said.
Hearing that Ujjol Mia, 33, an alleged drug peddler, was roaming in Jailkhana Road area with a sharp weapon around 11:45pm on Tuesday, Asad detained him on the spot, but the locals pleaded for his release and he was freed.
Ujjol stabbed Asad, injuring him critically, around 12:30am on Wednesday, said OC Delwar Ahmed.
Locals took Asad to Gouripur Upazila Health Complex, but he was later shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital's Intensive Care Unit as his condition deteriorated, the OC said.
Asad was taken to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka by a helicopter yesterday for better treatment, he added.
Ujjol went into hiding soon after the incident.
