Prisoner dies at Faridpur jail

A 60-year-old under trial prisoner, who fell seriously sick in the district jail on Friday, died at Faridpur Medical College Hospital on Sunday.

The deceased, Hemayet Sardar, son of late Tahaj Uddin of Sagaldi village in Nagarkanda upazila of the district, was arrested in connection with a case for murder and robbery.

Hemayet was shifted to Faridpur from Narayanganj jail on January 26, Jailer Abdur Rahim said.

He was taken to the hospital as he was suffering from various complications, including diarrhoea, and died while undergoing treatment there, the jailer said.
