Netrakona BCL leader commits suicide

A Chhatra League leader allegedly committed suicide in Netrakona town on Wednesday.

The deceased, Adnan Khan, 22, son of Badruzzaman Khan Manik of Satpai area in the town, was entertainment secretary of the district unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of ruling Awami League.

Police quoted the deceased's family members as saying that after returning home around 6:00pm on Wednesday Adnan entered his room and closed the door from inside.

After half-an-hour, family members called Adnan to open the door but got no response.

Failing to get any response, at one stage, they entered the room by breaking open the door and found Adnan hanging from the ceiling fan.

On information, police went to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Netrakona Sadar Hospital, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Model Police Station Borhan Uddin said.

Adnan's body was handed over to his family members without autopsy, he said, adding that they are yet to find the motive behind the death.

An unnatural death (UD) case was filed with the police station, the OC said.
