2 Rohingya women held in Sirajganj

Police say they went there to collect Bangladeshi passports

Police arrested two Rohingya women from a human trafficker's house at Barupur village in Sirajganj's Chowhali upazila on Friday evening.

The arrestees are Rokeya Khatun, 20, daughter of Aanullah of Kartali village, and Rahima Khatun, 18, daughter of Abdul Haque of Shikdarpara village in Merulla district of Mayanmar.

They fled from Kutupalong Rohingya camp of Cox's Bazar for making Bangladeshi passports with the help of human traffickers in Sirajganj, said Md Rashidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Enayetpur Police Station.

The two women took shelter at the residence of Nazrul Islam at Barupur village for making new Bangladeshi passports five days ago, said the OC.

On secret information, they arrested the duo, but Nazrul managed to flee the scene.
