Woman burnt in acid attack by unknown person

A woman suffered burn injuries as an unidentified person threw acid on her in Jurain area in the capital on Wednesday night.

Zahura Begum, 26, wife of Ripon Khan of Jurain Bou Bazar, has been undergoing treatment at the Burn and Plastic Surgery unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Ripon told The Daily Star yesterday.

As Zahura entered a toilet adjacent to their tin-shed house around 9:00pm, the unidentified criminal hurled acid on her through the broken ventilator of the toilet, he said.

They have been living in the area for four to five years and have no enmity with anyone, Ripon claimed.
