3 Eden college students, relatives ‘assaulted, sexually harassed’, 4 held in Dhaka

Three students of Eden Women's College and their three female relatives have been “assaulted and sexually harassed” by salesmen of a clothing store at Chandni Chowk market in Dhaka.

The salesmen of “Shahnur Fabrics” hurled abusive words at the mother and two aunts of one of the students when they were waiting for the college girls in front of the store yesterday afternoon.

As the trio went there, the salesmen engaged in altercation with them, according to a complaint filed with New Market Police Station today.

At one stage, the salesmen reportedly assaulted and sexually harassed them, the complaint reads.

One of the victims also shared the bitter experience on her Facebook page with detail of the abuse they suffered. However, the victim has removed the post or made it private later.

After getting the complaint, police raided the shop and picked up four persons -- Nazrul Islam, Al-Amin, Abul Hosen and Nayem, New Market Police Station Officer-in-Charge Atikur Rahman told The Daily Star.
