No 'pocket committee' to run BCL: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader yesterday said Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) would not be run by any “pocket committee”.

He made the comment while addressing Dhaka University unit BCL's annual council at Teacher-Student Centre auditorium of the university.

“I want devoted and qualified leadership. Chhatra League would not be operated by any syndicate or anyone's pocket committee”, said Quader, also the minister for road transport and bridges.

“It will run as per Bangabandhu's ideology and Sheikh Hasina's instruction.” There is no scope of thinking otherwise, he added.

The former BCL president also instructed its leaders to take measures so infiltrators cannot enter the organisation.

Earlier, Quader inaugurated the official website of DU BCL and unveiled the cover of its souvenir as the chief guest.

BCL president Saifur Rahman Sohag during his inaugural speech asked leaders and activists of BCL to be on alert so they can foil any conspiracy ahead of the national elections.

Sohag later officially announced the dissolution of DU BCL's incumbent committee.

Among others, AL Organising Secretary AKM Enamul Haque Shamim and lawmaker Jahangir Kabir Nanak spoke at the programme conducted by DU BCL General Secretary Motahar Hossain Prince.
