Today is the 4th death anniversary of educationalist and intellectual Prof Khan Sarwar Murshid.
Wreaths will be placed at his grave at the capital's Mirpur Intellectuals' Graveyard at 11:00am, prayers will be offered and food will be distributed among the destitute, says a press release.
His family requested all to attend the programme and pray for the salvation of the departed soul.
Born in 1924, Murshid was at the forefront of the 1952 Language Movement, the 1969 Mass Upsurge, and the Six-Point Movement and an organiser of the 1971 Liberation War.
During the war, he was a member of the planning commission of the Mujibnagar government.
Murshid also served as the Bangladesh ambassador to Poland, Hungary and the former Czechoslovakia.
He was an assistant secretary general of the Commonwealth in 1977. He was the first chairman of Transparency International, Bangladesh (TIB) and was its trustee board member till his death.
