The election to Bangladesh Bar Council, a statutory body for regulating the country's lawyers, will be held on May 14 to elect its new executive committee.
The voting will take place from 10:00am to 5:00pm simultaneously on Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) premises, as well as all district level civil courts outside Dhaka, and at Bajitpur, Ishwarganj, Durgapur, Bhanga, Chikandi, Patia, Satkania, Fatikchhari, Sandwip, Hatia, Nabinagar and Paikgachha police stations.
Some 43,000 lawyers registered with the Bangladesh Bar Council will vote in the elections, SCBA officials said.
The newly-elected 14-members executive body will choose its vice chairman, who will be responsible for discharging all duties as the chief executive.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam is the ex-officio chairman of the Bar Council.
Total 59 lawyers are contesting the election.
All preparation for the election has been completed, said the attorney general.
