4 JU students to 'show cause' over ragging

Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities yesterday issued show-cause notices to 4 students over their alleged involvement of harassing some freshman students during ragging on Wednesday.

The respondent will have to explain within the next seven days why they should not be suspended for ragging, said JU Proctor Prof Tapan Kumar Saha.

Ahnaf Tahmid Arnob, Naimur Rahman, Gulgar Ahmed of government and politics department and Asif Ahmed of history department were issued the notices.

They are all second year student of the university and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of JU unit. 

On Wednesday, some first year students of Finance and Banking department filed a written complaint to the university proctor alleging “harassment” by seniors.
