2 abducted hill woman leaders freed

Two abducted leaders of Hill Women's Federation (HWF) were freed at Modhupur in Khagrachhari Sadar upazila yesterday, a month after their kidnapping.

They are Manti Chakma, general secretary of HWF central committee, and Doya Sona Chakma, general secretary of the organisation's Rangamati unit.

The HWF is an associate organisation of United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF).

On 18 March, criminals kidnapped the two from Kutukchhari Abasik area in Rangamati.

Niron Chakma, information and publicity secretary of the UPDF central unit, confirmed their release.

Contacted, Limon Bose, sub-inspector of Rangamati Kowtali Police Station and also investigation officer of the abduction case, said he heard that the two had been released.
