A case was filed with Banshkhali police yesterday after a 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a local youth at Shekherkhil union on April 18.
The victim was admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital's (CMCH) One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) for treatment and medical test.
Tipu, 22, the alleged rapist, has been on the run, said Salahuddin, officer-in-charge of Banshkhali police.
The incident took place on April 18 when the victim went to a nearby paddy field to bring home their cattle. The youth waylaid the girl, who is a primary school student, and allegedly raped her in the paddy field, said the OC.

“After primary investigation, the police found the news to be true and helped the victim's father file a case,” said the OC, adding, they were trying to arrest the culprit.
Earlier on April 17, the headteacher of a government primary school in Banshkhali upazila was arrested for his alleged attempt to rape a fourth grader of his school on April 10.
