'Circus Circus' staged at RU Auditorium

Popular theatre troupe Prachyanat's much-talked about play “Circus Circus” was staged at the Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium of Rajshahi University on Friday following a weeklong India-Bangladesh Theatre Festival.

Theatre department of the Rajshahi University in association with the Indian High Commission organised the festival. Ten troupes from Bangladesh and three Indian troupes are staging their plays at two venues during the festival.

The story of “Circus Circus” has been scripted and directed by Azad Abul Kalam. The play sheds light on a circus company, three players and all its animals.

The plot of the play circles The Great Bengal Circus Company, which earned widespread fame under its founder-owner Laksman Das.

The cast of the play included Shatabdi Wadud and Azad Abul Kalam among others.
