Gallery Cosmos recently published a gorgeous painting book “Maksuda Iqbal Nipa: Episodes of her Gaze”, a retrospective on the career so far of the noted Bangladeshi Painter Maksuda Iqbal Nipa. The book was published at BMW Lounge of Dhaka Art summit 2018 on February 6.
The launching ceremony was attended by art critic Professor Nazrul Islam, art writer Javed Jalil and Director of Cosmos Group, Masud Jamil Khan. The launching was followed by a talk participated by the artist, Professor Nazrul Islam and Javed Jalil.
Maksuda Iqbal Nipa is renowned for her colourful abstractions, often composed on very large canvases. She completed her MEd in Fine Art (painting) from Aichi University of Education, Japan. She has held numerous solo and group shows at home and abroad, including the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France, the Toyota Municipal Art Museum in Toyota, Japan, the Las Vegas Art Museum, USA, the Youngone Corporation in Seoul, Korea. She has been honoured by Bangladesh Mohila Porishod (Bangladesh Women's Association) for outstanding contribution to her respective field. Nipa has received numerous awards and grants from Japan, China and Bangladesh.
