The decision was made on the fifth day of the latest 74th FIAF Congress in Prague, Czech Republic on Thursday (April 26) when Bangladesh beat 46 votes to 37.
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu termed it an international accomplishment, saying “The Film Archive that the prime minister inaugurated in 2013 has become a world-class archive, and this recognition is an example of Bangladesh's rising prestige in building capacity to preserve the country and the world's history, culture and civilization through film.”
A Bangladeshi delegation led by Md. Abual Hossain, additional secretary
of the Inforamation Ministry, participated in the 74th Congress from April 22-27.
