An exhibition featuring a collection of artworks by eminent writer and poet Syed Shamsul Haque, titled “Chitrer Dibbowroth”, will begin today at the Daily Star-Bengal Arts Precinct at 6pm. Noted artist Hashem Khan will inaugurate the exhibition.
“Chitrer Dibbowroth” will display a unique collection of artworks which has never been exhibited before. The display will include the poet's paintings, sculptures, a book containing both his poems and drawings and a video showing his recitations. A number of poems, translated from Urdu to Bangla by the author, taken from his personal diary will also be displayed.
Besides, the catalogue of the exhibition containing some unpublished poems that the poet wrote during the last few days of his life spent at hospital is also an important part of the exhibition.
Haque's family collection is the source of all the works that will be exhibited.
The exhibition will be a platform to reveal a new identity of the esteemed author whose artworks often dealt with social constructions, life and struggle. According to Bengal Foundation, the exhibition will be a unique platform to discover the connectivity between his literature and art.
The exhibition will continue till April 5, and is open for all from 12 noon to 8pm.
